WEB DESIGN

I built my first portfolio website almost twenty years ago using HTML and BBedit. Over the years I dabbled in Flash, created sites on various content management platforms and for the past five years have really enjoyed working with WordPress. I am constantly amazed at how much easier the building process has become over time allowing so much more time to be devoted to design and ensuring high levels of usability. I am certainly not a developer, but I know enough about code to have a decent conversation!

WANDERINGS

I have had the marvelous fortune in my life to travel to twenty countries and plan to visit two more later this year. I have found that one of most beautiful things in my life is to embrace the unknown and the unfamiliar to discover perspectives very different from my own. I especially love Southeast Asia, in particular the islands of the Andaman Sea and Bali. I find it fascinating to learn about how others live and how they behave. My travels have had a dramatic influence upon my design process and the way I view the world around me.

ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN

For many years I have collaborated on projects with Jack Morton Worldwide and had the opportunity to work on interior office spaces, set designs for broadcast, trade show exhibits and temporary art installations. It has been a wonderful opportunity to experience the potential of how graphic communication creates stories while bringing inspiration and enlightenment to architectural space.A couple of my favorite projects are the CCTV Nairobi offices and the DOW Customer Innovation Center.

DIGITAL ANIMATION

After years of drawing by hand I became intrigued by digital design and animation. I moved to British Columbia for several years and attended the Vancouver Film School. My animated film Célésais featured a metaphorical passage through the four seasons told through performance and dance. The short film was shown in numerous film festivals and screened at Siggraph 2005.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN

I studied drawing, design and painting at the University of Florida and architectural design at Princeton University. These beginnings instilled my process with a balance of creative intuition and a strong analytical conceptual approach. I studied mosaic design in Fountainebleau France and worked for the prestigious architectural firm Mack Scogin Merrill Elam in Atlanta for several years.

UX/UI DESIGN

UX/UI Design is a natural evolution for me along my creative journey. My design background has provided a rigorous foundation of understanding how to translate complex information into easily understood visuals. I am passionate about bringing focused ideas to life through meaningful experiences as I create innovative and mindful products.I truly enjoy working with people, learning what they need and what their frustrations are in order to maximize functionality, usability and joy for products and experiences.

ILLUSTRATION

My illustrations have been used in films, motion graphics, textiles, and many types of printed matter. Depending upon the needs of the client and intended message, I am comfortable using a wide range of styles, blending contemporary, digital and traditional techniques. In addition to my commercial work I have also created DUSTINANNE, a branded collection of luxury gift products including pouches and greeting cards.

ART DIRECTION

I moved to NYC and worked for many well-known motion graphics boutiques and studios creating style frames, mood boards and concept treatments for commercials. I designed posters, dvd covers, textiles, book covers, and performance installations.I was the art director for several films. One of my favorites is 2012: Time for Change, which showcased fifteen minutes of animation. The film is available on HBO and Amazon.
